3:30 – 5:00pm: Documentary Showing: “I’m So Glad” 

The film is an illuminating exploration into the rich yet often overlooked history of Black Gospel music throughout Kansas and in the Kansas City region. It paints a vivid picture of the development of the Black community, as seen through the lens of gospel music. It features thought-provoking interviews with dozens of historians, scholars, musicologists, and performers, bringing to light a musical and cultural history that has not been presented before. The film celebrates the significant role that the region’s gospel artists
have played in shaping gospel music on a national scale and highlights their influential role in bringing African American musical traditions into the broader culture.
